Sat 27th June – 10.30am to 3.30pm
Brioche knitting is enjoying a welcome resurgence in creating accessories and garments in bright, bold colours. Its thick fabric is gloriously textured and squishy and, when worked in two colours, can create a reversible ribbed fabric – perfect for shawls and scarves as well as other accessories and garments.
During this workshop, we will learn how to combine yarn overs, slipped stitches and the unique language of brioche knitting to create different brioche stitches, starting in one colour before progressing to two. Once confident in the basics, we’ll apply our newly learnt skills to start knitting a beautiful, two-colour beanie or cowl – perfect to keep the cold at bay or gift to someone special.
This workshop is suitable for the knitter confident in the basic stitches.
Materials to bring: 4mm circular needle with 60-80cm/24-32” cable. (We’re working back and forth-not in the round-so the cable length needs to accommodate the working stitches, but can be longer.) Darning needle (plus all your usual knitting accessories e.g. row counter, scissors).
Yarn and light refreshments are included within the cost of the workshop but please bring a packed lunch.
