Mandalas: crochet charts and working in the round
This class is the perfect way to build your crochet confidence. We will cover how to start a project in the round, using both the chain and magic ring starts. You will learn new stitches including clusters, back loop stitches and front post stitches, as well as how to begin rows with standing treble crochet stitches. You will learn how to read crochet charts, and use them to make your first mandala!
This class is suitable for improving beginners. You will need to be able to confidently crochet UK double and treble stitches. All materials are supplied, including yarn, a book of mandala patterns and a hoop to mount your first mandala. Please bring your preferred 3.5mm hook if you have one.
Born and raised in Ireland, Fiona has been crocheting for most of her life. She gained her love of all things crafty from her multi-talented mother and her grandmother, who owned her own craft shop. After learning the basics, she taught herself to read patterns and hasn’t looked back! She loves working with new yarns and trying out new crochet techniques. When not crocheting or looking after her young daughter, Fiona is a geologist, and has spent the last 15 years studying the volcanoes of Ireland, Scotland and beyond! She enjoys teaching as much as she enjoys crocheting itself, and has set up Fiona Meade Crochet to turn her hobby into a small business.
