When: Midnight, New Year’s Eve.
Where: Stonehaven High Street and Harbour
Last year saw around 12,000 spectators watch 45 fireball swingers parade down the High Street at midnight, accompanied by bagpipers and performers, before casting the fireballs into the harbour on the stroke of midnight. This is followed by a spectacular fireworks display from the Bervie Braes, visible from all over town.
The High Street fills up fast so be sure to get down early as once we reach capacity, the entrances will be closed off.
If you don’t want to drive or wait for the start of bus services the next morning (after 4am), you could book a room in Stonehaven.
For a relatively small town, it has quite a few places to stay. But book early because they are all likely to be full on New Year’s Eve
Parking : because of the ongoing Flood Defence works , please try to avoid the south end of the town towards the harbour . There is plenty space to the north end of the town and also towards Mackie Academy on Slug Rd.
Our event is NOT ticketed , but donation buckets will be at all entry points , so if you can spare some change that would be great as it does cost a few bob to put the Fireballs on ?
We have a fixed capacity and in recent years have been full just before 11.30pm , so come early to ensure entry.
We have plenty toilet facilities on site so follow the signs or ask a Marshal for directions .
There is a dedicated area for disabled spectators and if you are coming along , could you please let us know beforehand as space in there is also limited .
Due to the nature of our event and the size of the crowds it’s is not really suitable for very young children/ pushchairs etc and also not for pets .
Finally , if you are coming along to see us , we hope you have a wonderful time and Happy New Year to you all when it comes
